Back Word
If forewords are seldom read, the risks that a back word be read appears to be slim.
How could you, a Human, the most and highest object in the story of evolution, how could you human be interested in anything but the Human Animal?
It is a mockery to pretend that we accept that we are but one of the tentatives of Life to find a way to Master the Universe.
I have used quite often the sentence "embryonic material produced Humans".
Since Dolly, we know there is no way we can prevent eager scientists from intervening on the genetic material of humans. First, the interventions will be to correct genetic errors leading to mortal disease, then the interventions will be to "improve?" the performances of the Humans. I should be happy, had I been born 60 years later, I would have escaped from my genetic disease. yet, I have more fear than hope. Already today you can read articles, reliable or unreliable, stating the number of destroyed embryo (material?) by far exceeds the population of France.
A day will come, day described by so many writers more than twenty or thirty years ago, when a rule will be voted to prevent the community from being able to identify whether a human is born out of the old classical process or through test tubes. Humans born through human channels will feel superior to test tube humans, test tube humans will feel superior to flesh humans.
In the history of evolution, a burden that no living object can support, has been put on our shoulders: never before in the history of Life as something known, that it would die, that those we love will die, that those we love will die and if fate is kind, their death will not be utterly horrible.
More than that, the only certainty we have is that our body will die.
But what has that got to do with the Glubitude?
Had I written this had I been a woman, not man? Probably not. For a woman, Eternity and Infinity are obvious, for a man it is an impossible longing.
Recently I read this sentence “To live is to go through Time in a borrowed Body”.
All humans have at least one thing in common, they do not want to die. Some commit suicide to avoid dying.
One thing?
Only one thing?
Not really.
All humans are like exploding suns whose light seeks planets that have not yet been created.
All humans are imprisoned in their loneliness.
It was a great gift given to us, a huge gift, that Life could have so much faith in its construction that it believed that we humans would be able to be functional while under the shadow of fear of death and the pain of desperately longing to be joined to another human.
A prisoner will always seek a way to escape from his prison, a human will always seek a way to escape from his solitude.
Solitude, solitude, yet apparently we believe in Love.
Well, you have all read that great classic of used and misused wisdom sentences, “Every body knows what music is, nobody can explain what it is”, and its mirror image, “everybody knows what Love is, nobody can explain what it is”.
To avoid that we be able to find the solution of the problem, Life added a false statement in the problem; Life stated that Love and Reproduction were linked, up to the point that a Human would not know whether He loved or He reproduced.
Should the humans in spite of that false trail be able to understand Love and Life, Nature cooked the dices: Humans would only be able to perceive four dimensions, Space and Time. With such bars on the cell imprisoning Humans in solitude, there was no way that a human thing could ever see beyond the walls of its cell.
Yet, humans escaped.
Something went very wrong in the Plans of the Universe, in spite of the cell of solitude, the fear of death, the stink of animal life, a light was burning in each Human, a light showing the human that there was something beyond the walls.
For as long as Humans have been Humans, they have looked at the stars, wondering what was beyond the stars.
For as long as the Humans have been Humans, they have wondered about the taste of the Day that had no yesterday.
They even made words to express what could not be understood, infinity and eternity.
But, Glubs, why Glubs?
Glubs were born from the teaching I received from my Masters.
When being a kid, my laziness was equal to any kid's laziness. Doing maths, it was very boring to seek to prove a property. Not only that, once you had discovered the property, you had to prove the reciprocity. By that time you were getting pretty fed up with this math problem, so when the teacher told you that you still had one step to go, to analyse within which limits the property is true, I usually gave up and accepted a mediocre mark.
It took something like 30 years until I understood that the mathematical property was of little interest, that the analysis of the limits was the most important part.
It may not sound as something obvious, yet it is part of your daily life.
Reader, when did your life start?
Asked that question, you will announce your birthday date; if you are from an Asiatic culture you will add one year to that date and quite rightly so.
Did your life start when you lungs uttered their first cry?
Did you life start when that brave spermatozoid wont he race against millions of other hungry spermatozoids?
Did you life start the day He saw Her?
The same question at the other end of the trail of life.
Did you die the day your heart stopped beating?
Did you die the day your brain went flat?
Did you die the day nobody remembered you?
Or did you never die? Your body decayed, the light that shone from your eyes, the shadow of your body would continue for ever?
Have we once again lost the Glubs?
Something strange happened to Humanity at the end of the 20th Century. Human Memory Space exploded, like a Memory Super Novae, the Internet increased the information available to our brain cells by a factor so huge that it has no meaning to try to give it a figure.
Something strange happened at the beginning of the third millennium, memory chips with Wi-Fi were implanted into our brain, to be replaced by memory chips grown out of undifferentiated living cells, until the day when you could no longer say:
I think!
As it would be meaningless
But had to say
We think!
In a way, it is strange that it took so long.
Human or Glub?
The Glubitude was the logical outcome of this evolution. However, this created a dead end to evolution and Glubitude proved to be the wrong solution.
Once you could no longer consider yourself as an individual but a node in a network, all evolution ceased;
Glubitude was to Humans what a rock is to a sand particle. It is dead.
The greatest gift given to Humans, the deepest expression of the trust of Life in Humans?
Accepting that there is no way we can accept Death!
