While it is basically due to my incompetence and laziness, upon reflection, I did realize that it did have a further sense, which may appear at the end of this story. But basically, sorry, it is really incompetence.</B></div> <bR> </tD> </tR> </TABLE></B></div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>Glubs, today I will share with you something that happened in my life and changed all my life.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>I was like you, a bored Glub, forced to be an entity separated from the Glub Network, just waiting for this boring lecture to finish, to feel the security of being an essential node in a network of nodes, to be a Glub and not to be single but a Glub Node.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Well, I sat as you sit today, and my old Professor who was looking with so much satisfaction to the forthcoming time when he would be backed up and archived and be forever Glubed and never again have to worry about the node he had been, my old professor, in a various devious way, forced us to look at a question which can be either destroying or the source of much hope.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>We shall repeat this experiment which I think will be repeated periods after periods as I do not see how we shall ever get an answer.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>I have had the technicians prepare the human embryo materials in a very special way, as my Professor taught me;</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>You see, students, we will have in front of us, a group of twenty humans. They were formed as usual from the embryo factory but this time we have had them processed by the Brain Fact Implant Factory.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Students, as it would be too confusing for you to understand so early in the beginning of your studies, I will try and bring to your image processing centre the production of representations of what could be the World of these Embryos;</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Students, these Humans think that they are in a University, well, sorry students, this can only confuse you, a University was a very primitive system whereby information would be implanted into the brains of younger humans using the brains of older humans, sorry, it does not make sense, but this is really the best I can do in the way of explanation. Apparently these Humans did not at all realize the absurdity of this system and so far as we can see, no systems were set up to avoid delusions and faulty transmissions;</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Well students, these humans were implanted this week with the information that two of them were teachers and sixteen of them were students.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Just to amuse you, we implanted them with the reality that they were studying anthropological biology.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Students, like you, they believe that they are at the beginning of their studies.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>These humans prepared from Embryo material of lower quality, we took some old strains we had based on the twentieth century, will now believe that they enter into the micro biology laboratory.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>They will believe that they are going to study microbial populations;</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>A week ago, they believe that they have been given Petri dishes, Glub student at the back who is presently trying to return and hide itself into the network, kindly rebubble yourself and tell us all what is a Petri dish?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>You do not know, how strange indeed, I can understand your need to be reconnected to the net.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>A Petri dish is simply a round container, nothing very complicated, into which the assistants poor a nutrient solution and when it has solidified, that incubated the surface with streaks of microbial colonies.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Students, why do they do it,</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Glub student with the upturned nose hub, why do they do it? You do not know. I think that you and I had better look together at some pictures this evening to awaken your spirit.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Glub Bubbles, any idea?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Glub student who has bubbled itself into that charming red haired freckled bubble with these charming dimples? You hesitate, how charming of you to be so honest, Glub bubble, you will kindly come to my Office this evening and we shall both studies some of the ancient customs in the framework of your anthropological studies.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Well, students, the humans were fascinated by their enemy, the bacteria. It was at the very edge of the end of the Human Empire Period that they believed that they had domesticated the bacteria. In the Petri dishes, they believed that they had created some kind of enclosure, that the bacteria would grow in that enclosure, and that they cold tame the bacteria by removing some nutrients from the gel or even kill them by adding some moulds to the gel.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>You see, the humans were totally convinced that the bacteria could not get out of the Petri dishes, they even were convinced that the bacteria were totally unaware of their presence.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Yes, indeed students, it was a rather simple and stupid assumption to make, but students you must understand that these humans were imprisoned in their idea that they were the masters of the Universe, and that these bacteria, because of their small size, could never grasp what a three dimensional world was; In fact the humans, please Glub students, refrain your mockery, these Humans believed that there was some kind of fundamental difference between the bacteria and the humans, that the bacteria did not “think” whereas the Humans were able to “think”.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Yes, students, this does raise two obvious questions.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Big Bubble Glub at the back who had ingested the extrusions of the green bubble Glub, could you kindly spit out the bubble Glub you were ingesting and can you kindly explain to everybody what “thinking” was?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Sorry Big Glub, nobody can understand what you say when you mouth is full of Glub, kindly leave the room and network yourself; regretfully, your bad behaviour means that you will have to be Bill Gated for four period before being allowed to come back;.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>So, Glubs, what are the two questions?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Long haired blond Bubble Glub with the five beautiful extrusions? Oh you did not want to answer the question, you wanted to know whether you and I could network ourselves this evening to have a profounder understanding of this period? They never could explain what it was, but it made them feel so superior to all other forms of organization, that they were unable to accept this as a delusion.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>This, students, you see, does also answer the second question, why did they not give that magical power to other forms of living substance?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>You see, don't you?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Students, you see, don't you?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>No, really, come on students?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>No, well, it is easy, if the other living had had that magical gift, the Humans would have had to share and if there was something they really hated, it was sharing, especially with other forms of living, even to the point of not wanting to share with other Humans.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Well Glubs, let us go back to the humans who believe to be students looking at Petri dishes.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Look at them students, they make note of how fast the bacteria colonies are developing, they make notes of which ones are dying, and, look their in the corner, two students are betting on which colony is going to dominate the other one.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Well, students, the Humans students are now going to do what they prefer, they are going to kill the living bacteria colonies. They really love that, but before you vomit, Glubs, please do understand that the humans saw these bacteria as some kind of non living material, they even went as far as believing that these bacteria were some kind of enemy that threatened them.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>See students, one human is getting all exited because he is observing how the bacteria scream when acid is dropped on them, look, even that beautiful Human with the white gleaming hair and the blond fibrillose hair and the precipitous upper bulges is getting so fascinated by the death of the bacteria under ultra violet radiations that she does not even notice the appendage of the human next to her.  </B></div> <bR> <div> <B>We are nearing the end of this illusion, see how the humans are finishing their notes, laughing with one another, see how one is trying to take a Petri dish and hide it for putting it into the collective nutrients of the minus humans these evenings.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>See how the Assistants are coming, see how the assistants are collecting all the Petri dishes on trays, see how they are all piled up.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>So Glubs, what is going to happen now?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Yes, the ugly looking Bubble Glub with the white teeth and don't believe that I did not notice tht you told freckled Glub not to come to my Office this evening!</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Yes ugly looking white teethed Bubble Glub, you believe that the micro organisms will be microsofted and put back in the net? How stupid of you!</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Look students, the Petri dishes, with all the living, are put in horrible sterilizers!</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>The living will be gone forever; Nobody has even cared to back-up anything. Gone forever!!!!</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>So, Bubble Glubs, why has this apparently horrible happening changed all my way of looking at universe?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Yes, Bubble Glub with the twinkling sensors,</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Ah, you got it, indeed, yes, this is really the big problem.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>What if we Glubs were only some kind of material being observed by something we cannot understand and that somewhere some devoted assistants is lightening the furnace that will disconnect us forever without any  back-up ?</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Well, as you are reflecting upon these problems you can proceed to the teaching given by my hardware colleague whom I hold in the very highest esteem even if enduring his teaching cannot be said to be worse than the fate of these poor humans disconnected forever;</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Thank you for your attention Glubs.</B></div> <bR> <bR> </td> </tr></table></body>
